TOASTMASTERS RAYA OPEN HOUSES AND GATHERING IN KOTA KINABALU - From 5 December 2004 |
With the Syawal month still going strong, Muslim Toastmasters invited their friends to their open houses. Abu Bakar Sheriff, who is a former Division K Governor and past presidents of KKTMC and Pidato, held a Raya open house cum house warming party on 5 December 2004. Most of his guests were Toastmasters, who were treated not only to an array of Raya goodies but also to a tour of the home he and his family have moved into. With its roof styled after a Cinderella-type castle, it was easy to imagine that one was in fairyland atop of Bakar's home. Petronas, Sabah held its Raya open house at the car park outside its main building in Kota Kinabalu on 10 December 2004. SBO Toastmasters Club, the in-house club of Petronas Sabah, invited all Toastmasters to the open house. The event, which was held in the afternoon, attracted many Toastmasters, who availed themselves of all the trappings of this auspicious festival. At hand to welcome the guests were President Julita Ontol, TM Yusrina Harun and TM Jirom Dony. A gathering of a different sort was held by Kevin Lim, ATM-B, the second runner-up winner of the District 51 Humorous Speech Contest. Together with his wife Olivia and son Jordan, he threw a drink and snack party at his residence as an appreciation of sorts for the support given to him by his friends in Toastmasters. His friends joined him to celebrate his win, and review the District Contest CDs. Professor Kamaruzaman Ampon and his wife, Dr Ann Anton, who were both former members of the University Toastmasters Club, invited Toastmasters to their Raya open house at Graceville, Kota Kinabalu on 28 November 2004. Professor Kamaruzaman is a former president of the University Toastmasters Club. These gatherings enhanced further the camaraderie and fellowship among the Toastmasters in Division K. |
