Sandakan Toastmasters Club's Berhala Island Meeting
- 28 October 2004

Contributed by Judy Goh, ATM-B

“There’s never a dull moment at the Sandakan Toastmasters Club’s meetings.” President Luna Chua’s statement was confirmed again recently when, on 28 October 2004, 14 members attended a training meeting on Berhala Island, within the vicinity of the fishponds of Plentiful Harvest Sdn Bhd. Berhala Island is a stone’s throw from Sandakan town.

Victor Liew, ATM-G played the role of Toastmaster of the Evening with flair. Everyone spoke enthusiastically during the Table Topics session, while TM Janet Chin had the audience in stitches with her own brand of humour. Luna Chua, CL and Datin Grace Chiu, CL presented speeches from the Special Occasion Speeches Manual.

At 6.30am the next morning, the Toastmasters were taken on a tour of the fishponds and given a briefing on the intricacies of fish-breeding. After that, they took a 10-minute speedboat-ride back to Sandakan town. Overall, it was a fun-filled meeting (complemented by delicious seafood) that fostered fellowship among the participating members.
