Tawau Toastmasters Club’s Bollywood Night
- 8 November 2004

Contributed by Lee Chye Ewe, ATM-G

Twenty-nine members and guests attended the Bollywood Night Theme Meeting. Among the guests were Mano, Dr Vergheese and wife Santha, Dr Thomas' wife, Mary, Janet, who sang for us during our 6th Installation, Christy Wong, my former student but now a lecturer and Vincent. Vincent has announced that he is joining the Club.

The meeting started with Toastmaster of The Evening, Latha, telling us the true meaning of Deepavali, the Festival of Lights. She called for everyone not to just light up the lamps but light up our hearts as well.

Dinner was served after a special ceremony to light up the lamps. Delicious food was sponsored by Latha (and her beloved husband, Prem), Dr Thomas and Victor Raja. Mr Mano brought some Indian food too. Victor did not forget to order Teh Tarik to go with the spicy food.Thank you for the wonderful dinner.

Elizabeth Goh took the floor after dinner to conduct the Table Topics Session. She managed to encourage quite a number of speakers, including guests to talk on various topics.

Vera Yap then started the Manual Speech session with her most entertaining “Doing Small and Big Business in China.” She almost acted out everything, except for the real “business.” The other speaker was Chu Ket Mee.

Humour Mistress Patricia Chai shared with us a humorous story of one of her young secret admirers. Who says grandmothera are not attractive?

The meeting ended at 9.30pm with everyone feeling good with the food, the fellowship, the entertainment and the benefits of the meeting itself.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to wish all its Hindu members and guests a Happy Deepavali.
