In keeping with its traditions of holding theme meetings to add a touch of culture to its club meetings, the Kota Kinabalu Toastmasters Club staged its Deepavali Theme Meeting on 9 November 2004 to celebrate the Festival of Light.
The Toastmaster of the Evening, SS Anand, CTM, highlighted the various aspects of Deepavali throughout the meeting, which created a greater understanding of Deepavali among the audience of 30 members and guests.
Four Toastmasters delivered their speeches during the meeting - TM Joanna Lim, TM Nicole Lin, Solomon Chang, ATM-B and Ronald Tang, CTM. That evening, Ronald Tang, who is the VPE of the Club, graduated with his ATM-B Award. Congratulations.
Sophia Chia, CTM was adjudged the Best Dressed Lady while SS Anand, CTM clinched the Best Dressed Gentleman.
Toastmasters not only enhances its members' communication and leadership skills, but also fosters better racial relations among its members.
